Your experience is more than about weight loss at Mountain Trek, and that's why we see ourselves as more that a fat farm. Also taken into account are body composition changes. Body composition includes fat weight, water weight, and muscle weight. By measuring these components that make up your total body weight, you can clearly see the changes your body is undergoing while at FitPath™.

Fat Weight: 1/2 to 1 pound of fat loss per day.
This depends on age, gender, medications, hormones, and most importantly the amount of effort a person exerts each day (hiking between 65-85% of their target heart zone, exercises classes, and evening activities). Typical Day

Water weight: 1-2 pounds of water loss per week.
This varies due to a person’s toxicity and the ability to detox.

Muscle weight: Maintained during the FitPath stay.
There is the opportunity to add a small amount of muscle weight. This depends on length of stay, calorie intake and amount of resistance training done.

Overall weight loss rates vary according to many variables, including how hard you can work physically to burn fat. Also important is the pre-program preparation that can assist in raising the effectiveness of the metabolism so that weight loss is maximized during your stay with us. An increase in your metabolism enables you to become a “fat burner” instead of a “fat storer”. Weight loss averages recorded have been between 4-10 lbs per week! The average weight loss in 2007 was 5.68 lbs/week. That’s why FitPath™ is called a “kick start” weight loss program.

The Program
FitPath™ is structured like a boot camp and you will get results. Whether you're looking for a weight loss program after the holidays, or a jumpstart to summer weight loss, you've come to the right place. More than a quick weight loss program, this is a truly comprehensive package combining outdoor experiences, indoor training and assessment, a sensible effective food plan, and a motivational mindset to get you going in the right direction and keep going! FitPath™ is a retreat for people like you who are serious about fat loss, people like you who are prepared to not only work physically as hard as they can, and people like you who are open to changes in their lifestyle in terms of food, activity, and stress reduction.

Fitness Requirements:
FitPath™ can accommodate people who are just getting back on the road to fitness, as well as those who want to increase their current fitness level. A base level of fitness is required for the FitPath program which is the ability to walk fairly comfortably for two hours at a moderate pace. Most of the hikes are between 3-5 hours long with distances between 5-12 miles (8-16 km) covered. Drink in the beauty of pristine alpine meadows near Kokanee glacier while climbing elevation gains of close to 1500 feet. Enjoy undulating trails in the Purcell Mountain range with the surf of Kootenay Lake below providing the soundtrack. Hike the trails that trains once covered back in time.

With a limit of 16 guests per week, different levels of physical fitness can be offered:  beginner, intermediate, or more advanced, for the hiking (spring/summer/fall) and snowshoeing (winter) activities, As much as is possible within a small group environment, we endeavor to offer the fitness program to your level, to make you feel comfortable and to help you improve. We use multiple guides to split the groups and offer the different levels of fitness most days.

Our guides do their best to insure your comfort while on the trails with regular breaks and a quick lunch however most of the day you will be hiking. We have found this to be the best activity to achieve impressive weight loss results and with connect with nature and yourself in one of the most beautiful of all places on the planet.
