Mountain Trek is a different kind of Health and Fitness spa. Not a typical Spa offering cucumber facials and herbal wraps, but a physically demanding fitness and weight loss boot camp. Not a fat farm, but a fit farm. We call our Program, FitPath.
FitPath uses hiking as the key cardio component for increasing fitness and burning fat. Unique to our program is the ability to accommodate all fitness and hiking abilities. This personalized attention to our Guests’ personal goals is why our program is so successful and receives rave reviews. It is the reason we keep the groups to a maximum of 16 guests.
Four pillars comprise the FitPath Program: Fitness, Nutrition, Detoxification, and Stress Management. We deliver the principles of each pillar during daily lectures and incorporate them into your total day’s experiences.
Fitness
Your FitPath experience begins and ends with an in-depth body composition analysis including girth measurements. These measurements calculate body fat percentage and body mass index (BMI) that are used to establish goals as well as track your progress during your stay with us. Blood pressure is also recorded.
Early mornings are dedicated to yoga. A gentle form of Hatha yoga is used focusing on lengthening your muscles through safely directed postures.
Daily hikes are between 2-4 hours in duration. You will experience different trails with varying levels of difficulty and spectacular views. Hiking groups are determined by fitness level with opportunity to change groups through out the week.
A beginner class to teach overall principles of “engaging the core” and the importance of incorporating core exercises daily.
Introduction to resistance training with principles and safe use of Cybex machines and free weights.
From aerobox to spin class, to Salsa and circuit classes, we motivate an extra fat burning session with variety and fun.
Nutrition
Understand the nutrition principles underlying our FitPath Program.
Three lectures are delivered with topics ranging from timing of meals, blood sugar and hormone balance, to indulging our indulgences without gaining weight.
Three healthy calorie controlled organic gourmet meals served daily as well as two snacks for hiking.
Detoxification
An important component of the Program based on the idea that the body stores toxins in fat. The more toxins we have the more likely we are to create fat. Detoxifications practices utilized are:
Opens space in our joints and promotes circulation.
Increases both blood and lymph circulation helping the body remove toxins more efficiently from the body.
Includes hot tub, steam room and infrared sauna that will increase metabolism and sweat production supporting the release of toxins.
Aids in removing waste products from muscles and only a short five-minute walk from the Lodge.
Naturally cleansing to the body (wheat, sugar and mainly dairy free).
Burns fat and releases toxins.
Stress Management or Destressing
Studies show that unmanaged stress can increase cortisol levels in the body, create insomnia, create fat deposits around internal organs, and lead to age related illnesses. Stress reducing practices at Mountain Trek include:

For those of you who book early, we provide a pre-program plan for eating and fitness that will get you help you make the most of your Mountain Trek experience.
Note: Weight loss fees are deductible. In April 2, 2002 the IRS (rev.rul.2002-19) that costs associated with participation in a weight loss program for tax payers suffering from a weight-related disease are deductible. A physician’s prescription is required to access this deduction.
